Never capture or handle this species with a net — its spines can genuinely become entangled in the mesh — always use a container instead. We also want to be honest that this species genuinely becomes tame and will recognise its keeper over time, often approaching the glass or even your hands, which paradoxically increases the risk of an accidental sting during routine tank maintenance. Please always exercise caution when your hands are in the tank.
 
📋 The Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish, also known as the Shortfin Lionfish, has a genuinely striking red, white, and black striped body, with large, fan-shaped, fringed pectoral fins that give the species its "fuzzy" name and help disguise its outline from potential predators.
Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-Pacific, this species inhabits reef environments, hunting among rocks and crevices at night as an ambush predator.
This is a genuinely popular, personable lionfish well suited to smaller tanks compared to its larger relatives. It's considered reef safe with caution — it won't harm coral, but will genuinely eat any fish or crustacean small enough to fit in its mouth, and shouldn't be housed with fish that may nip at its large, showy fins. We want to be honest that some specimens may initially refuse frozen or prepared foods, preferring live prey at first.
