📋 The Yellowfin Scorpionfish, also known as the Bandtail Scorpionfish, has a genuinely humpbacked body profile with a mottled colouration that shifts to match its surroundings, a distinctive yellow tinge to the gill cover, a dark red band across the tail, and tubercles along the outer edge of the eye.
Native to the Indo-West Pacific, this species genuinely inhabits the continental shelf at depths of up to 40 metres, and is a real demersal predator.
We want to share a genuinely interesting fact: this species' scientific name, "neglecta," genuinely means "overlooked," believed to reference its likely previous misidentification as a related species. This is genuinely a supremely camouflaged, stationary ambush predator, remaining motionless while waiting for prey to wander close.
