📋 The Yellow Spotted Scorpionfish, also known as the Coral Scorpionfish, Yellowspotted Scorpionfish, or Pink and Yellow Scorpionfish, has a mottled reddish-brown-to-pink body accented with yellow patches and pearly-to-light-blue spots, a combination reflected in its scientific name, which translates to "blue spot." It's native to the Indo-Pacific, where it lives on reefs at depths of 2 to 30 metres, and it's only occasionally available in the aquarium trade.
It's a voracious, secretive ambush predator, remaining highly camouflaged and stationary while waiting for prey to pass by. Every Yellow Spotted Scorpionfish we ship is feeding well, sometimes on live foods such as glass or grass shrimp, small crabs, or saltwater feeder fish. It's reef safe with caution: it won't harm corals or polyps, but it will eat ornamental shrimp, crabs, and any fish small enough to fit in its mouth, so choose tankmates with care.
Like all scorpionfish, it carries venomous spines along its back, and a sting is painful, with effects ranging from discomfort to a more severe reaction in sensitive people. Please take real care whenever your hands are near it, and keep just one scorpionfish per aquarium.
