🐟 Asagi Koi (Cyprinus rubrofuscus)
A Blue-Grey Net Pattern Over Every Scale • Warm Red-Orange Cheeks, Belly and Fins • One of the Oldest and Most Elegant Koi Varieties
📋 The Asagi Koi carries a calm, blue-grey back where every scale is edged in a lighter tone, forming a neat net pattern, set off by warm red-orange colour on the cheeks, belly and fins. It's one of the oldest koi varieties, and many of today's famous koi trace their roots back to it, giving it a timeless, classic elegance.
It's a captive-bred ornamental koi, developed in Japan from the Amur carp. Every Asagi Koi we ship is feeding well.
This is a peaceful, sociable pond fish that glides gracefully through the water, and it quickly learns to come to the surface to feed from your hand. It's long-lived, hardy and grows into a true pond centrepiece, reaching up to 90cm, so a pond of 4,000L or more suits it well.
