🐟 Shusui Koi (Cyprinus rubrofuscus)
A Smooth Sky-Blue Back With a Row of Dark Blue Scales • Warm Red-Orange Along the Sides • A Calm, Elegant Pond Showpiece
📋 The Shusui Koi, whose name means "autumn water", carries a smooth, sky-blue back with a single neat row of large, dark blue mirror scales running down the centre like a zip, set off by warm red-orange colour along the sides and belly. It's the Doitsu form of the Asagi, with sleek, nearly scaleless skin and a calm, elegant beauty.
It's a captive-bred ornamental koi, developed in Japan by crossing Asagi koi with German mirror carp. Every Shusui Koi we ship is feeding well.
This is a peaceful, sociable pond fish that glides gracefully through the water, and it quickly learns to come to the surface to feed from your hand. It's long-lived, hardy and grows into a true pond centrepiece, reaching up to 90cm, so a pond of 4,000L or more suits it well.
