🐟 Kohaku Koi (Cyprinus rubrofuscus)
A Snow-White Body With Bold Crimson Red Patterns • The Most Famous Koi of All • The Timeless King of the Pond
📋 The Kohaku Koi carries a pure, snow-white body painted with bold, deep crimson-red patterns, a simple, striking combination that has made it the most famous and loved koi in the world. It leads the "Gosanke", the big three classic koi varieties, and is often called the king of koi.
It's a captive-bred ornamental koi, developed in Japan from the Amur carp. Every Kohaku Koi we ship is feeding well.
This is a peaceful, sociable pond fish that glides gracefully through the water, its red patterns glowing against the white as it turns, and it quickly learns to come to the surface to feed from your hand. It's long-lived, hardy and grows into a true pond centrepiece, reaching up to 90cm, so a pond of 4,000L or more suits it well.
