🐟 Doitsu Koi (Cyprinus rubrofuscus)
Smooth, Sleek, Nearly Scaleless Skin • Neat Rows of Large Mirror Scales • Clean, Vivid Colours That Really Glow
📋 The Doitsu Koi, also known as German-Scaled Koi, carries smooth, sleek skin that is almost scaleless, with neat rows of large, shiny mirror scales running along the back and sides. Without a full coat of scales, its colours look clean, bold and vivid, and the "Doitsu" form appears across many popular koi varieties.
It's a captive-bred ornamental koi, created in Japan by crossing koi with German mirror carp. Every Doitsu Koi we ship is feeding well.
This is a peaceful, sociable pond fish that glides gracefully through the water, and it quickly learns to come to the surface to feed from your hand. It's long-lived, hardy and grows into a true pond centrepiece, reaching up to 90cm, so a pond of 4,000L or more suits it well.
