🐟 Ogon Koi (Cyprinus rubrofuscus)
A Gleaming Solid Metallic Gold Body • A Radiant Glow That Lights Up the Pond • One of the Most Eye-Catching Koi of All
📋 The Ogon Koi, whose name means "golden" in Japanese, carries a single, solid metallic colour that gleams from head to tail, with a lustrous shine that catches the light from every angle. The bright yellow-gold Yamabuki Ogon and the warm Orenji (orange) Ogon are the most popular, and either one instantly lights up the pond.
It's a captive-bred ornamental koi, developed in Japan from the Amur carp. Every Ogon Koi we ship is feeding well.
This is a peaceful, sociable pond fish that glides gracefully through the water, its metallic body glowing even in deeper water, and it quickly learns to come to the surface to feed from your hand. It's long-lived, hardy and grows into a true pond centrepiece, reaching up to 90cm, so a pond of 4,000L or more suits it well.
