📋 The Coral Beauty Angelfish (Centropyge bispinosa), also known as the Twospined or Dusky Angelfish, is a true staple of the marine hobby, with a deep blue-to-purple body highlighted by iridescent orange streaking and bright blue margins on the fins. Colouration genuinely varies quite a bit across its wide range, giving individual fish real personality.
Native to coral-rich lagoons, outer reef slopes, and reef crests across the Indo-Pacific, from East Africa to the central Pacific and the Great Barrier Reef, this species is widely regarded as one of the hardiest and most adaptable dwarf angelfish available.
Coral Beauty Angelfish are considered reef safe with caution — many specimens coexist peacefully with corals for years, but individuals can develop a habit of nipping at LPS coral polyps, soft coral polyps, and clam mantles, so this varies genuinely between individual fish. It's also a genuinely territorial species — keep only one per tank unless the aquarium is very large, and it may harass newly introduced or similarly shaped fish. Like other dwarf angelfish, it's sensitive to copper-based medications.
