🐠 Fisher's Angelfish (Centropyge fisheri)

Marine Reef-Safe-With-Caution Dwarf Angelfish • Genuinely Compact Hawaiian Endemic • One of the Most Reef-Friendly Dwarf Angels • Beginner-Friendly Marine Fish

📋 The Fisher's Angelfish (Centropyge fisheri), also known as the Orange Angelfish or Fisher's Pygmy Angelfish, is a genuinely compact dwarf angelfish, predominantly deep orange-brown with a thin sapphire-blue outline along the belly and anal fin, and a pale, almost translucent yellow tail.

Found only around the Hawaiian Islands and Johnston Atoll, this species is a genuine endemic with a limited natural range, making it meaningfully less common than widely distributed relatives like the Coral Beauty Angelfish. It's also one of the smallest Centropyge species available, ideal for more modest reef tanks.

Fisher's Angelfish are generally regarded as one of the more reef-friendly dwarf angelfish, but we want to be honest: there are genuine reports of specimens behaving like "model citizens" for extended periods before suddenly beginning to nip at corals and clam mantles, particularly if underfed. Consistent, varied feeding meaningfully reduces this risk. It's also genuinely intolerant of similarly sized or coloured angelfish, so keep it as the only dwarf angel in the tank unless introducing multiple species simultaneously to a large system.

With ample live rock, consistent feeding, and thoughtful stocking, it thrives as a Compact Reef-Friendly Display Fish.
