📋 The Yellow Pygmy Angelfish , also known as Herald's Angelfish or the False Lemonpeel Angelfish, has a genuinely clean, near-solid bright yellow body, with some specimens showing a subtle dusky patch behind the eye. It's genuinely often confused with the true Lemonpeel Angelfish (Centropyge flavissima), which it closely resembles, but is reliably distinguished by lacking that species' electric-blue eye ring and blue fin edging. The species is genuinely named after Earl Stannard Herald, an American ichthyologist.
Native to a genuinely wide range across the Pacific Ocean, from Taiwan and southern Japan to the Tuamotu Archipelago and the Great Barrier Reef, this species typically inhabits steep outer reef slopes at depths of 5-90 metres, living in pairs or small harems.
This is genuinely one of the hardier, more accessible dwarf angelfish, and unlike the true Lemonpeel, it's genuinely less dependent on algae in its diet, adapting readily to a wide range of prepared foods. We want to be honest on reef safety: it's considered reef safe with caution, and may genuinely nip at large-polyped stony corals, soft corals, and clam mantles, particularly if underfed. It's also genuinely territorial toward other dwarf angelfish and should be the only Centropyge species present.
