📋 The Goldstripe Goatfish, also known as the Yellowfin or Banded Goatfish, has an attractive white-to-pale-pink body with a blue-edged yellow stripe running from the eye to the tail base, a short yellow bar on the cheek, and yellow fins throughout. It's the same species as our Yellow Goatfish, sold under its other common name.
It lives across the Indo-Pacific in large schools over sandy reef bottoms and lagoons, and at night it forages with its chin barbels for small worms and crustaceans. In the aquarium it's an active, peaceful, social fish that loves to sift sand and comes into its own in a small group. Every Goldstripe Goatfish we ship is feeding well, and it will learn to feed by day once settled.
It grows to up to 38cm, so give it a roomy tank (we recommend at least 470L for a small group), a sand bed, and a tight lid, since goatfish are known jumpers. It won't harm corals, but it will sift out worms and small crustaceans, so it suits a fish-focused or coral-only tank best.
