The Lawnmower Blenny (Salarias fasciatus) is a hardworking, algae-grazing marine fish prized for its genuinely useful appetite for hair and film algae, paired with an expressive, almost comical face and mottled brown-and-cream camouflage patterning.
Native to shallow reef flats and lagoons across the Indo-Pacific, Lawnmower Blennies spend nearly all their time perched on rock or glass, using their comb-like teeth to graze algae directly from hard surfaces throughout the reef.
Naturally active and food-driven, Lawnmower Blennies are one of the most functional algae-control fish in the marine hobby, tirelessly working across rockwork and aquarium glass.
