📋 The Lawnmower Blenny, also known as the Sailfin or Jeweled Blenny, is a hardworking, algae-grazing marine fish prized for its useful appetite for hair and film algae, paired with an expressive, almost comical face and mottled brown-and-cream camouflage patterning.
It comes from shallow reef flats and lagoons across the Indo-Pacific, spending nearly all its time perched on rock or glass, using its comb-like teeth to graze algae directly from hard surfaces throughout the reef. Every Lawnmower Blenny we ship is feeding well.
Naturally active and food-driven, this is one of the most functional algae-control fish in the marine hobby, tirelessly working across rockwork and aquarium glass. It's generally peaceful toward other species but can become territorial toward similarly shaped blennies, and its algae-dependent diet means an established tank with a healthy algae supply is important for its long-term condition. It's fully reef safe, and compatible with corals and most reef invertebrates. It reaches 12-14cm, so a 115L tank with established algae growth suits it well.
