📋 The Segmented Sailfin Blenny , also known simply as the Segmented Blenny, has a genuinely eye-catching, distinctive appearance — a body divided into vertical segments alternating between yellow and reddish-tan, with red spots along the dorsal fin and flanks, plus bushy cirri between the eyes. It's genuinely a smaller, more colourful relative of the popular Lawnmower Blenny.
Native to shallow, algae-rich lagoons and reef flats across the Western Central Pacific, this species spends its days perching on rock, hopping between vantage points, and grazing on filamentous algae, diatoms, and detritus.
This is a genuinely characterful, inquisitive fish, often seen perched watching its surroundings. It's fully reef safe and generally peaceful, though genuinely territorial toward other blennies or similarly shaped fish — best kept singly unless housing a genuine mated pair in a larger tank. As with all Salarias blennies, this species genuinely needs an established tank with real ongoing algae growth to thrive long-term.
