📋 The Multi-Barred Angelfish, also known as the Multibar or Many-Banded Angelfish, has a striking appearance: a deep-bodied white form marked with numerous bold black vertical bars and a soft yellow belly. Juveniles show fewer bars and a distinctive blue eye-spot on the dorsal fin that fades with maturity.
It comes from reef caves and crevices across the Indo-Pacific, from the Cocos-Keeling Atoll to the Society Islands, one of the shyest, most reclusive angelfish in the hobby, and also one of the least aggressive members of its genus, which means it can be kept in pairs or small groups in a spacious tank. Every Multi-Barred Angelfish we ship is feeding well, and we favour captive-bred stock, which is pre-conditioned to prepared foods and just as hardy as any other angelfish once settled.
It's reef safe with caution, and captive-bred specimens are notably less likely to nip at corals than wild-caught individuals. It needs abundant hiding places and calm, non-boisterous tankmates to feel settled enough to come out and feed confidently. It reaches up to 11cm, so plan on at least 285L.
