🐠 Neon Goby (Elacatinus oceanops)

Marine Reef-Safe Nano Cleaner Goby • Black Body With Neon Blue Horizontal Stripes • Genuine Documented Cleaning Behaviour • Beginner-Friendly Marine Fish

📋 The Neon Goby, also known as the Neon Cleaner Goby or Blue Neon Goby, has a genuinely striking black body with a pale underbelly and two vivid neon blue horizontal stripes running from snout to tail.

Native to the Western Atlantic, from Florida down through the Caribbean and Brazil — a genuine geographic outlier from most of our Indo-Pacific stock — this species inhabits coral reefs, forming small "cleaning stations" on coral heads at depths of roughly 1 to 45 metres.

A genuinely well-documented natural behaviour defines this species: it actively picks parasites and dead skin from the mouth, gills, and skin of larger fish, and is so widely recognised as a cleaner that even predatory fish are known to spare it rather than eat it. Unlike its more famous but notoriously difficult relative, the true Cleaner Wrasse, this species is genuinely well suited to aquarium life, readily accepting prepared foods and not relying on cleaning as its sole food source. We want to be honest that it shouldn't be relied upon as sole parasite control in a closed aquarium system. It's fully reef safe, genuinely hardy, and best kept singly or as a confirmed pair, since a larger dominant individual can become aggressive toward others of its own kind.
