📋 The Two Spot Goby, also known as the Twinspot Goby, Signal Goby, or Crabeye Goby, has a genuinely distinctive tan-to-white body splashed with orange spots, a vertical orange stripe through the eyes, and erect dorsal fins each marked by a striking black-outlined eyespot with a yellow "iris" and black "pupil," used to bluff potential predators.
Native to shallow reefs and lagoons across the Western Pacific, this species is genuinely the only known member of its entire genus, Signigobius.
We want to share a genuinely interesting fact: unlike many similar burrowing gobies that share a burrow with pistol shrimp, this species genuinely maintains its own burrow independently, and is usually observed in pairs in the wild. This is a genuinely peaceful species, rarely aggressive toward other fish, though it can be territorial toward its own kind unless kept as a mated pair. It's fully reef safe, and genuinely spends much of its time constantly sifting sand through its mouth in search of tiny invertebrates and organic matter.
