📋 The Two Spot Goby, also known as the Twinspot Goby, Signal Goby, or Crabeye Goby, has a distinctive tan-to-white body splashed with orange spots, a vertical orange stripe through the eyes, and erect dorsal fins each marked by a striking black-outlined eyespot with a yellow "iris" and black "pupil," used to bluff potential predators.
It comes from shallow reefs and lagoons across the Western Pacific, the only known member of its entire genus, Signigobius. Unlike many similar burrowing gobies that share a burrow with pistol shrimp, this species maintains its own burrow independently, and is usually observed in pairs in the wild. Every Two Spot Goby we ship is feeding well, trained onto live and frozen foods before it leaves us; this species relies heavily on natural sand fauna, so we recommend it only for keepers with an already mature, well-established tank and an active refugium.
This is a peaceful species, rarely aggressive toward other fish, though it can be territorial toward its own kind unless kept as a mated pair. It's fully reef safe, and spends much of its time constantly sifting sand through its mouth in search of tiny invertebrates and organic matter. It reaches up to 10cm, often cited around 6cm in aquariums, so a 190L established tank is recommended.
