📋 We want to be genuinely upfront on naming: despite "Watchman" in its name, this species is genuinely a sleeper goby (also known as the Tiger Sleeper Goby, Ward's Tiger, or Ward's Sleeper), and unlike the burrow-sharing Cryptocentrus watchman gobies, its defining behaviour is genuinely sand-sifting rather than a specific pistol shrimp partnership.
 
📋 The Tiger Watchman Goby has a genuinely eye-catching white body marked with thick brown bands, a distinct black eyespot on the first dorsal fin, and a vivid electric-blue stripe beneath each eye.
Native to the Indo-Pacific, including Sri Lanka and Indonesia, this species is genuinely found sifting through sandy substrates on the reef floor.
We want to share a genuinely fascinating behaviour: this species is a real skilled sand sifter, taking mouthfuls of sand, filtering out edible particles, and releasing the sifted sand, which genuinely helps keep the substrate clean and well aerated. This is genuinely a peaceful species toward other fish, rarely showing aggression, though we want to be honest that it can become territorial toward its own kind, fighting unless kept as a genuine mated pair. It's fully reef safe, and genuinely requires a live sand substrate to display its natural sifting behaviour, alongside an established, mature tank with a healthy microfauna population to sustain its feeding.
