📋 The Brown Scopas Tang , also known simply as the Scopas Tang or Twotone Tang, has a genuinely golden-yellow head that gradually darkens through shades of brown toward the tail, with fine, intricate light-blue markings across the body.
Native to a genuinely vast range across the Indo-Pacific, from East Africa to Japan, the Pitcairn Islands, and Australia, this species is genuinely known for highly variable colouration — some individuals appear almost entirely yellow, others nearly solid black, and rare colour morphs including koi, albino, and hybrid patterns genuinely exist and are highly sought after by collectors.
We want to be genuinely upfront: this species will naturally darken with age, particularly in tanks with dimmer lighting and darker décor — this is genuinely normal and not a sign of poor health. It's fully reef safe and a genuinely excellent, constant algae grazer. We want to be honest that it can be aggressive toward other tangs, especially other Zebrasoma species, so it's best kept as the only tang of its kind, and caution is warranted when combining it with species like the Purple Tang.
