🐠 Coral Hind (Cephalopholis miniata)

📋 The Coral Hind, also known as the Miniata Grouper or Coral Grouper, is dazzling: a vibrant red-to-orange body covered head to tail in small, electric-blue spots.
It ranges across the Indo-Pacific, from the Red Sea and East Africa to the central Pacific, on clear-water coral reefs at depths of 2 to 150 metres. In the wild it's an ambush predator that strikes upward from the substrate, and it forms harems of one dominant male with up to twelve females. It may be a little shy at first, but grows noticeably more social and confident over the following weeks.
It's safe with corals, but it will eat smaller fish and invertebrates, so choose similar-sized tankmates. It's a heavy, messy eater and reaches up to 50cm, so plan on at least 680L (180 gallons) with strong filtration, and keep just one Coral Hind per tank.
