🐠 Masked Grouper (Gracila albomarginata)

Marine Not-Reef-Safe Predatory Fish • Reddish-Brown Body With Curved Dark Bars & a White Flank Patch • Genuine Blue-Glowing Marking Under Natural Light • Advanced Marine Fish

📋 The Masked Grouper, also known as the Thinspine Grouper, White-Margined Grouper, or Slenderspine Grouper, has a genuinely distinctive greenish-to-reddish-brown body marked with narrow, curved dark bars, a dark spot on the tail base, and a genuinely notable square white patch on the upper flank that appears blue when viewed under natural light.

Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-Pacific, from northern Mozambique to French Polynesia, and north to Okinawa, this species inhabits reef environments at depths of 15 to 120 metres.

This is a genuinely solitary, territorial species best kept alone, or alongside other large, robust fish capable of tolerating its semi-aggressive temperament. We want to be honest that it can genuinely be shy and difficult to feed in its first days in a new aquarium, sometimes requiring live glass shrimp or small fiddler crabs to encourage feeding if it won't accept anything else. It's genuinely a low-metabolism species, needing to be fed only every other day once established. We want to be upfront: this species is not reef safe, and will genuinely consume ornamental fish and invertebrates small enough to fit in its mouth.
