⚠️ Important Information — Please Read First

We want to be genuinely direct on this one, because we believe honesty matters more than a sale. This species genuinely grows very large, reaching up to 71cm (around 28"), and multiple expert sources genuinely recommend a minimum of 150 to 300+ gallons for a healthy adult. It's genuinely known for rapid growth — small juveniles can outgrow a modest tank within a single year — so please only consider this species with a serious, concrete long-term plan for its eventual large size.

📋 The Panther Grouper, also known as the Polka-Dot Grouper, Humpback Grouper, High-Finned Grouper, or Barramundi Cod, has a genuinely distinctive cream-to-white body covered in bold black spots, with a vertically elongated, "humpback" profile created by a narrow dorsal area and a concave head base.

Native to the Eastern Indian Ocean and Western Pacific, this species inhabits lagoons, coral reefs, and seaward reef environments from southern Japan through Southeast Asia, Micronesia, New Caledonia, and northern Australia.

This is a genuinely ambush-oriented predator, naturally feeding on smaller fish and crustaceans, and considered one of the hardier, easier-to-care-for groupers once its size is properly planned for. We want to be honest that it can genuinely be shy when first introduced, so plenty of live rock cover matters early on, and it's a genuine escape artist, making a secure, tight-fitting lid essential. We want to be upfront: this species is not reef safe, and will genuinely eat any invertebrate or fish small enough to fit in its mouth.
