📋 The Double Striped Dottyback, also known as the Two-Lined or Slender Dottyback, has a striking black body with a thick horizontal stripe and a light yellow head.
It ranges across a wide stretch of the Indo-West Pacific, from the Philippines and Indonesia to northern Queensland, east to the Solomon Islands and Palau, where it inhabits coral reefs and reef slopes, sheltering in crevices and caves. It has a documented appetite for bristleworms and mantis shrimp, making it a valued pest controller for keepers dealing with either. Every Double Striped Dottyback we ship is feeding well.
It's bold, fast-moving, and confidently territorial, so it does best alongside large, robust tankmates such as eels, angelfish, surgeonfish, groupers, or triggerfish. It's reef safe with caution: it won't harm corals directly, but it will pick at and consume benthic invertebrates. It reaches up to 12cm, so plan on at least 115L and robust companions from day one.
