We want to be genuinely upfront on this one. This species is genuinely secretive, extremely fast-moving, and territorial toward smaller or more docile tank mates. It should only be housed with genuinely large, robust, dominant species such as eels, angelfish, surgeonfish, groupers, or triggerfish — anything smaller or more passive is at genuine risk of being harassed.
 
📋 The Double Striped Dottyback, also known as the Two-Lined Dottyback or Slender Dottyback, has a genuinely striking black body with a thick horizontal stripe and a light yellow head.
Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-West Pacific, from the Philippines and Indonesia to northern Queensland, east to the Solomon Islands and Palau, this species inhabits coral reefs and reef slopes, sheltering in crevices and caves.
A genuinely interesting natural behaviour: this species is documented eating bristleworms and mantis shrimp, making it a valued pest controller for hobbyists dealing with these nuisances. It's genuinely occasionally captive-bred, though not in sufficient numbers to meet trade demand. We want to be honest that it's considered reef safe with caution — it won't harm corals directly, but will pick at and consume benthic invertebrates. Given its genuine speed and secretive nature, it can be genuinely very difficult to remove from a heavily aquascaped reef tank if needed.
