📋 The Elongate Dottyback, also known as the Red Elongated or Floppy-Tail Dottyback, has a striking dark brown-to-black body with a contrasting red-to-orange head and tail.
It's known only from Sulawesi and the Molucca Islands in Indonesia, which makes it a rarely imported find in the aquarium trade. Every Elongate Dottyback we ship is feeding well, and it's a hardy, easy-to-feed fish that readily accepts pellet and frozen foods.
It's secretive when first introduced, settling into rocky hiding places and crevices, then grows noticeably bolder over time into a fairly agreeable dottyback, provided its tankmates are slightly larger and moderately confident. It's fully reef safe and appears less aggressive than many other dottybacks, making it a good fit for today's popular nano reef tanks, though it may still pester smaller, more timid fish, so keep it singly. It reaches about 6.5cm, so a 75L tank suits it well.
