📋 The Flagtail Shrimp Goby, also known as the Flagtail Prawn Goby, has an elegant elongated body in whitish tones marked with diffuse light orange-brown bands, and a vivid caudal fin, yellow with a red-orange centre and oblique blue bands, the source of its "flagtail" common name.
It comes from the Indo-Pacific, commonly collected from Indonesia, inhabiting sandy areas mixed with rubble near coral reefs. Every Flagtail Shrimp Goby we ship is feeding well.
A charming natural partnership defines this species: it forms a real symbiotic relationship with the pistol shrimp Alpheus randalli, sharing a burrow the shrimp maintains and continually cleans, while the goby stands guard, alerting its nearly blind partner to approaching danger. It's fully reef safe and hardy once established, though it can be shy and somewhat territorial, especially toward its own kind unless kept as a confirmed mated pair. It's also a capable jumper, so a secure, tight-fitting lid matters. It reaches up to 10cm, so a 75L tank suits it well.
