📋 The Flagtail Shrimp Goby, also known as the Flagtail Prawn Goby, has a genuinely elegant elongated body in whitish tones marked with diffuse light orange-brown bands, and a genuinely vivid caudal fin — yellow with a red-orange centre and oblique blue bands — the source of its "flagtail" common name.
Native to the Indo-Pacific, commonly collected from Indonesia, this species inhabits sandy areas mixed with rubble near coral reefs.
A genuinely charming natural partnership defines this species: it forms a real symbiotic relationship with the pistol shrimp Alpheus randalli, sharing a burrow the shrimp maintains and continually cleans, while the goby stands guard, alerting its nearly blind partner to approaching danger. It's fully reef safe and genuinely hardy once established, though we want to be honest that it can be shy and somewhat territorial, especially toward its own kind unless kept as a genuine mated pair.
