🐠 Pink Spotted Watchman Goby (Cryptocentrus leptocephalus)

Marine Reef-Safe Sand-Dwelling Goby • Pale Body Covered in Vibrant Pink Spots With Faint Vertical Bands • Genuine Pistol Shrimp Partnership • Beginner-Friendly Marine Fish

📋 The Pink Spotted Watchman Goby, also known as the Pink & Blue Spotted Goby or Singapore Goby, has a genuinely charming pearly-white to pale tan body covered in vibrant pink spots across the head, body, and fins, with faint vertical banding and an occasional subtle blue iridescent hue.

Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-West Pacific, this species inhabits silty and rubble bottoms of coastal intertidal reef zones, lagoons, and tidal pools.

A genuinely charming natural partnership defines this species: it forms a real symbiotic relationship with alpheid pistol shrimp, typically the Tiger Pistol Shrimp, sharing a burrow the nearly blind shrimp digs and maintains, while the goby keeps watch and alerts its partner to danger. We want to share a genuinely delightful documented behaviour — at night, this species has been observed closing off its burrow entrance with a rock for security, then pushing it aside again each morning. This is a genuinely hardy, peaceful species, though it can be territorial toward other gobies, so it's best kept singly or as a genuine mated pair. It's fully reef safe and genuinely not a picky eater. We want to be honest that it's easily spooked until settled in, so a secure, tight-fitting lid matters to prevent jumping.
