Marine Reef-Safe Sand-Dwelling Goby • Olive-Green Body With Bold Brown-Red Bars & Light Blue Speckles • Genuine Documented Pistol Shrimp Partnership • Beginner-Friendly Marine Fish

📋 The Wide Barred Shrimp Goby, also known as the Wide Bar Goby or Broad-Banded Shrimp Goby, has a genuinely eye-catching olive-green elongated body adorned with bold brown-to-red vertical bars, speckled fins in brown and blue, and light blue speckling throughout.

Native to the rubble zones of the Indo-Pacific, from Indonesia to the Solomon Islands, this species inhabits sandy areas near coral reefs, often sharing burrows with its shrimp partners.

This species genuinely forms a real documented symbiotic partnership with pistol shrimp of the Alpheus genus, in which the shrimp maintains and digs the shared burrow while the goby stands watch as a lookout, warning its nearly blind partner of approaching predators. We want to share a genuinely fascinating fact: when threatened, this species has been documented entering a real defensive display, puffing up its throat and changing colour to appear larger and more intimidating. This is a genuinely peaceful species that typically doesn't venture far from its small cave, best introduced simultaneously if kept in a small group or pair, though two males may fight over territory. It's fully reef safe, and genuinely occasional in the aquarium trade.
