🐠 Blue Assessor (Assessor macneilli)

Marine Reef-Safe Nano Basslet • Deep Navy-Indigo Body With Electric Blue Fin Edging • Genuine Upside-Down Swimmer • Beginner-Friendly Marine Fish

📋 The Blue Assessor, also known as Macneill's Assessor or Macneill's Basslet, has a genuinely rich, deep navy-indigo body with a thin, electric blue edge along the dorsal, anal, and pelvic fins.

Native to the Western Pacific, from Australia's Great Barrier Reef to New Caledonia, this species inhabits reef caves and crevices at shallow depths, often forming natural shoals of up to 100 individuals.

A genuinely charming and distinctive natural behaviour: this species swims and hangs upside down against cave ceilings and rock overhangs, a habit it carries over into aquarium life. It's fully reef safe, genuinely peaceful, and a natural planktivore in the wild, feeding on tiny crustaceans like copepods and amphipods. We want to be honest that it's genuinely territorial toward its own kind unless introduced together, and while multiple specimens can be kept, this requires a genuinely larger tank of 75 gallons or more to succeed. It's also a genuine jumper when startled, so a secure, hooded lid matters. This species is genuinely uncommonly imported, giving it a real rarity premium compared to more common basslets.
