📋 The Yellowtail Reef Basslet, also known as the Pinstriped Basslet, has a genuinely poetic colouration — a solid pastel pink-to-purple body splashed with rich golden yellow around the mouth, caudal fin, and tail, with the eye ringed in a genuinely contrasting indigo blue.
Native to the Western Atlantic, from North Carolina to Brazil, this species genuinely inhabits deep coral reefs and rocky areas at depths of 60 to 300 feet.
We want to be honest that this species is genuinely not commonly seen in the aquarium trade, given the depths at which it's collected. It's a genuinely reserved, shy species that will fight back if provoked, and while generally peaceful, it can become territorial if kept in a smaller tank or alongside other similarly shaped fish. It's considered reef safe with caution — we want to be upfront that this species will genuinely pose a threat to tiny ornamental crustaceans, so tank mates should be chosen with real care. This species genuinely requires pristine water quality, particularly low nitrates, to stay healthy and vibrant.
