📋 The Royal Gramma Basslet, also known as the Fairy Basslet, is one of the most beloved fish in the marine hobby: a vibrant purple-to-violet front half giving way to a bright golden yellow rear half, divided by a crisp bisecting line. Fans of Finding Nemo will recognise it as the model for Gurgle.
It comes from the deep-water reefs of the Caribbean, from the Bahamas to Venezuela, the Antilles, and Bermuda, where it prefers rockwork caves and gentle lighting. It's hardy, easy to care for, and a manageable size of up to about 8cm, which makes it a favourite for beginners and experienced aquarists alike. Every Royal Gramma Basslet we ship is feeding well.
It's reef safe with corals, clams, anemones, and most invertebrates, and peaceful with tankmates of similar size, though it will snack on tiny amphipods, isopods, and copepods. Keep one per tank, since it's territorial toward its own kind, unless you have a confirmed pair, and give it plenty of caves.
