📋 The Yellow Assessor Basslet, also known as the Gold Assessor, Yellow Devilfish, or Golden Assessor Basslet, has a vivid, entirely yellow body outlined in orange-to-red along the fins, with just a hint of blue highlighting the eye.
It comes from deep reef environments across the Western Pacific, particularly around Australia's Great Barrier Reef, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, and Tonga, where it spends much of its time in caves and beneath ledges. Every Yellow Assessor Basslet we ship is feeding well.
It has a documented habit of swimming and hovering completely upside down beneath overhangs and cave ceilings, a natural adaptation to its sheltered habitat. It's hardy and easy to care for, a little shy at first, and becomes bold and personable once established, often developing a real interactive relationship with its keeper. It's territorial toward other Assessor species or similarly shaped fish, so keep one per tank, or a small group if juveniles are introduced together to a large, well-established aquarium. It's fully reef safe, and it reaches up to 8cm, so a 115L tank suits it well.
