📋 The Blue & Gold Damsel, also known as the Electric Blue Damsel or Neon Damselfish, has a vivid two-tone body, an intense electric blue upper half meeting bright yellow across the lower half and tail, with the exact proportion of yellow varying between individual fish.
It comes from a wide range across the Indo-Pacific, including the Great Barrier Reef and Fiji, inhabiting coral reefs and shallow lagoons, darting in and out of rockwork and crevices throughout the day. Every Blue & Gold Damsel we ship is feeding well.
This is one of the hardiest, most popular damselfish in the trade, and a great first fish for a new marine aquarium given its resilience. It can be aggressive and territorial once established, particularly toward similarly sized fish and new tank additions, so it's best introduced later in your stocking order rather than as one of the first fish. It's fully reef safe and won't bother corals or invertebrates, and does best kept singly, or in a small-to-medium group of six or more introduced simultaneously to help spread out territorial behaviour. It reaches up to 9cm, so a 115L tank suits it well.
