🐠 Rolland's Damsel (Chrysiptera rollandi)
Marine Reef-Safe Nano Damselfish • Bold Black-to-Blue Front Half & White Rear With Vibrant Blue Spotting • Genuinely One of the Calmer Damsels • Beginner-Friendly Marine Fish
📋 The Rolland's Damsel, also known as the Black Cap Damsel or Rolland's Demoiselle, has a genuinely striking two-tone body — a dark blue-to-black front half giving way to white toward the tail, accented with vibrant blue spots and streaks around the head. This species genuinely occurs in two natural colour variants, with some individuals also displaying a yellow patch extending from the top of the head to the dorsal fin.
Native to the South Pacific, this species inhabits reef environments, often foraging around large Acropora coral heads.
This is genuinely one of the least aggressive damselfish species available, and a real hardy, disease-resistant choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists. We want to be honest that, like all damsels, nippy behaviour can still emerge if kept in too small a tank or in too few numbers, so this species genuinely does best in odd-numbered groups introduced simultaneously. It's fully reef safe, and genuinely not a picky eater, readily accepting flakes, pellets, and meaty foods alike. We want to be upfront that once well established, this species can genuinely be quite difficult to catch without removing rock from the tank.
