📋 The Ternate Damsel, also known as the Ternate Damselfish, Lemon Chromis, Lemon Damsel, or Yellow Staghorn Damsel, has a genuinely eye-catching slightly green-to-silver body offset by bright yellow pelvic, dorsal, and anal fins, closely resembling the Yellow Damselfish but distinguished by its more stately green tone and a genuine metallic streak running through the body.
Native to the Western Pacific, from Indonesia to the Solomon Islands and north to the Ryukyu Islands, this species is genuinely found among coral-rich areas of sheltered coastal reefs, particularly around staghorn corals and gorgonians.
This is a genuinely hardy, easy-to-care-for damselfish, and while it generally ignores other fish, invertebrates, and corals, we want to be honest that it can become genuinely territorial toward its own kind and similarly sized fish as it matures, especially in smaller tanks. It's fully reef safe, and we want to share a genuinely charming detail: breeding pairs lay egg masses on coral skeletons or dead coral portions, though an industrious pair may occasionally strip live coral if no alternative spawning surface is provided. We want to be upfront that this species is genuinely rarely seen in the aquarium trade.
