Marine Reef-Safe Territorial Damselfish • Shimmering Silver-Green Body With Two Dark Vertical Bands • Genuinely Hardy but Hostile — Please Read Before Buying • Beginner-Friendly Marine Fish
📋 The Two Stripe Damsel, also known as the Reticulate Dascyllus, Reticulated Damselfish, or 2-Stripe Damselfish, has a genuinely shimmering silver-green body with two dark bands encircling the front half and another before the blue-green tail.
Native to the Indo-Pacific, this species inhabits coral reef environments and is genuinely commonly found off the coast of Indonesia and the wider West Pacific.
We want to be genuinely honest on this one: while it's genuinely cute and peaceful as a juvenile, this species is real "hardy but hostile" — it matures into one of the more territorial members of the entire Dascyllus genus, and impulse purchases based on juvenile charm can lead to a real surprise once the fish grows up. This species is genuinely one of the easiest fish to keep, quickly accepting flake and pellet foods, and does well housed with other similarly assertive fish able to hold their own. It's fully reef safe, and won't harm invertebrates or disturb corals, though we want to be upfront that it can become genuinely quite belligerent toward tank mates as it matures.
