📋 The Blue Velvet Damsel undergoes a genuinely dramatic transformation as it matures — juveniles show a mostly black body with vivid electric-blue stripes and a yellow-white "belt," while adults lose most of this blue and white colouration, becoming primarily black.
Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-Pacific, this species inhabits coral reef environments alongside other damselfish and clownfish relatives within the Pomacentridae family.
It's fully reef safe and genuinely not a picky eater, readily accepting flakes, pellets, and a varied mix of algae and meaty foods. This is a genuinely hardy, easy-to-keep species overall, though its temperament can range from peaceful when young to genuinely quite territorial as an adult.
