📋 The Blue Velvet Damsel undergoes a dramatic transformation as it matures; juveniles show a mostly black body with vivid electric-blue stripes and a yellow-white "belt," while adults lose most of this blue and white colouration, becoming primarily black.
It comes from a wide range across the Indo-Pacific, inhabiting coral reef environments alongside other damselfish and clownfish relatives within the Pomacentridae family. Every Blue Velvet Damsel we ship is feeding well.
It's fully reef safe and not a picky eater, readily accepting flakes, pellets, and a varied mix of algae and meaty foods. Like other Neoglyphidodon damsels, it becomes increasingly territorial and can be quite aggressive with age, so it's best added later in your stocking order, once more docile fish are already established. This is a hardy, easy-to-keep species overall. It reaches up to 11cm, so a 115L tank suits it well.
