Native to the Indian Ocean, this species is genuinely known specifically from Sri Lanka and the Andaman Sea, making it a somewhat geographically restricted damselfish.
This is a genuinely hardy, easy-to-care-for species best kept in small odd-numbered groups in a suitably sized system with numerous hiding places. We want to be honest that it can genuinely be confrontational toward tank mates, and like most damsels, becomes genuinely very difficult to catch once established without removing rock from the tank. It's fully reef safe, and while most aquarists report no issues, we want to be upfront that individual results with corals and invertebrates can occasionally vary.
