🐠 Sapphire Damsel (Pomacentrus pavo)

Marine Reef-Safe Nano Damselfish • Iridescent Blue Body With Occasional Yellow Tinting • Genuinely Distinct From the Similarly Named Blue Sapphire Damsel • Beginner-Friendly Marine Fish

📋 We want to be genuinely upfront on naming: this species is genuinely distinct from the Blue Sapphire Damsel (Chrysiptera springeri), despite the shared "Sapphire" name — the two belong to entirely different genera.

📋 The Sapphire Damsel, also known as the Peacock Damsel or Blue Damsel, has a genuinely striking iridescent blue body, sometimes with yellow tinting toward the tail depending on the individual and regional population.

Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-Pacific, from East Africa to the Tuamoto Islands, north to Taiwan, and south to Lord Howe Island, this species inhabits sandy areas of lagoon reefs, around isolated patch reefs, coral heads, or rubble, usually in groups.

This is a genuinely hardy, adaptable damselfish that occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. We want to be honest that, like many damsels, it can display real territorial behaviour, particularly toward others of its own kind, so care should be taken with tank mate selection and introduction order. It's fully reef safe, and genuinely not a picky eater, readily accepting a wide variety of standard aquarium foods.
