🐠 Yellowtail Damsel (Chrysiptera parasema)

Marine Reef-Safe Nano Damselfish • Electric Blue Body With Bright Yellow Tail • Genuinely One of the Calmer Damsels • Beginner-Friendly Marine Fish

📋 The Yellowtail Damsel , also known as the Yellowtail Blue Damsel or Goldtail Demoiselle, has a genuinely vivid electric-blue body that transitions sharply into a bright lemon-yellow tail and dorsal fin. It's genuinely often confused with the closely related Azure Damselfish (Chrysiptera hemicyanea), which is reliably distinguished by yellow extending onto its belly as well as its tail.

Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-Pacific, this species inhabits sheltered lagoons and inshore reefs, often sheltering among Acropora coral branches, and feeds mainly on zooplankton in the water column.

This is genuinely one of the calmer, more manageable damselfish species, and unlike many of its relatives, it's genuinely reef safe and won't bother corals or invertebrates. That said, we want to be honest that its assertiveness genuinely tends to increase with age, and it can become territorial toward its own kind. If keeping a group, a genuine odd-numbered shoal of 9 or more, introduced simultaneously as juveniles, works best — smaller groups have genuinely been known to suffer fatalities from infighting. A single specimen or a known male-female pair is a simpler, equally successful option. A genuinely charming detail: after spawning, the male cares for and guards the eggs until they hatch.
