🐠 Emperor Damsel (Chrysiptera arnazae)
Marine Reef-Safe Nano Damsel • Blue Body With Bright Yellow Tail & Fin Edges • Genuinely One of the Least Aggressive Damsels • Beginner-Friendly Marine Fish
📋 The Emperor Damsel, also known as the Goldtail Damsel, has a genuinely vivid blue body with a bright yellow tail, and yellow edging along the dorsal, anal, and pelvic fins — a genuine distinguishing feature from the closely similar Yellowtail Blue Damsel (C. parasema), which lacks the extra yellow fin trim.
Native to reefs around the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, and eastern Indonesia, this species was genuinely formally described only in 2010, having previously been referred to as Chrysiptera cf. parasema due to its close resemblance.
A genuinely notable trait: this is the smallest and least aggressive member of the yellow-tailed damsel complex, and appears genuinely monogamous in the wild, a behaviour that carries over into aquarium life. It's fully reef safe and genuinely earns its keep by eating nuisance flatworms. We want to be honest that, like most damsels, it can become nippy if kept in too small a tank, but in a genuinely spacious setup, two or more can be housed together if introduced simultaneously with a size difference, allowing the dominant fish to become male.
