📋 The Purple Queen Anthias has a vivid pink-to-purple body with blue-edged fins and a multicoloured face accented in yellow. Males typically develop a bolder orange facial stripe and a more pointed snout as they mature, while females stay slightly plainer with a yellow stripe along the back.
It comes from coral-rich lagoons and reef slopes across the Indo-West Pacific, from Mauritius to the Philippines and south to the Great Barrier Reef, where it naturally forms harems over current-swept drop-off zones. It's sometimes confused with the similarly purple-bodied Yellowback Anthias, which has bright yellow dorsal and caudal fins. Every Purple Queen Anthias we ship is feeding well, trained onto live copepods from an established refugium to get it off to a confident start.
It's fully reef safe and won't harm corals or invertebrates. It naturally forms a harem of one dominant male with several females, so keep just one male per tank, since two together leads to serious fighting. It's a capable jumper, so use a secure lid. It reaches up to 12cm, with males slightly larger than females, so plan on at least 285L for a small group, and 490L or more for a full harem.
