📋 The Flame Anthias, also known as the Ignitus Anthias or Flame Fairy Basslet, shows a gorgeous gradient of colour: an orange-red head and body deepening toward the tail, tinged with lavender toward the belly, and a pale yellow underside marked with a distinctive orange-and-lavender stripe through the eye.
It comes from the eastern Indian Ocean and far western Pacific, including the Maldives, Andaman Islands, and the Similan Islands right here in Thailand, as well as Sumatra, where it shoals in large numbers above outer reef slopes with strong currents and heavy wave action. Every Flame Anthias we ship is feeding well, and it quickly grows more visible and confident as it settles into your tank.
It's fully reef safe and won't harm corals or invertebrates. It's best kept singly, or as a harem of one male with several females in a large enough tank. As an active zooplankton feeder, it benefits from small, frequent meals, and a refugium producing live copepods is a real asset for long-term health. It reaches up to 9cm, so plan on at least 265L for one fish, and 470L or more for a proper harem.
