📋 The Tiger Queen Anthias , also widely known as Lori's Anthias, displays a genuinely soft peach-to-pink body crossed by several bold, broad red stripes across the upper back, with the last stripe running horizontally across the base of the tail. Males are genuinely more decorative than females, developing bright yellow scribble markings alongside the red stripes and a distinctly protruding snout.
Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-Pacific, from Japan to the Tuamotu Islands and Rowley Shoals, this species is genuinely quite recently known to science — first collected in 1970 and formally described in 1976 — and is genuinely collected from meaningfully deep water, typically 18 to 70 metres, around caves, ledges, and steep outer reef slopes.
Given its genuine deep-water origin, this species does best under dim, subdued lighting rather than bright reef illumination. It's fully reef safe and does best kept singly or as a small harem in a genuinely spacious tank — but we want to be honest that two males housed together can lead to genuinely extreme aggression, so only ever keep one male per tank. It's also genuinely somewhat shy and can be harassed by more assertive anthias species, so it should be introduced last, after other tank mates are settled.
