🐠 Bartlett's Anthias (Pseudanthias bartlettorum)
Marine Reef-Safe Shoaling Fish • Pink-Purple Body With Yellow Back & Tail • Genuine Sexual Dimorphism • Intermediate Marine Fish
📋 The Bartlett's Anthias , also known as Bartlett's Fairy Bass, displays genuine striking sexual dimorphism — males show a more intense violet-to-magenta body with vivid yellow running along the back through the upper tail lobe, while females are a softer lavender-pink with a yellow dorsal edge and tail. Both sexes share the graceful, flowing swimming motion characteristic of anthias, with bright blue lines edging the tail fin.
Native to reef slopes across the Central Pacific, particularly around the Marshall Islands, this species forms large aggregations above coral outcroppings in the wild.
We want to be genuinely honest: while it's regarded as one of the hardier anthias once settled in, it can genuinely ship poorly and needs a careful acclimation period, so please allow it time to properly adjust before final release into your tank. It's fully reef safe and does best kept as a small group of one male with three to five females, or singly — but we want to flag that housing two males together can lead to genuinely extreme aggression, so only ever keep one male per tank.
