📋 The Sunset Anthias, also known as the Diadem or Shortsnout Anthias, has a warm blend of orange, pink, and yellow tones: males typically show a yellowish-pink body with red along the upper back and tail, while females display an overall softer yellow with a distinctive pink diamond pattern on the head.
It ranges across the Indo-West Pacific, from the Maldives to the Solomon Islands, Japan, and Australia, on coastal and outer reef slopes, where it forms small groups feeding on zooplankton in the current. It's collected from deep water, typically 45 to 60 metres, which makes it rare in the trade. Every Sunset Anthias we ship is feeding well.
It does best under dim, moderate lighting, which lets it settle in comfortably and show its true colours, and it does well introduced after your other tankmates are already established in a calm tank. It's fully reef safe and does best kept as a harem of one male with several females, or singly. It reaches up to 7.5cm, so plan on at least 265L for one fish, and 570L or more for a harem.
