🐠 Red Fairy Anthias (Pseudanthias kashiwae)

Marine Reef-Safe Shoaling Fish • Pink-Orange Body With Bold Red Bar & Violet Band • Genuinely Mixable With Other Anthias • Intermediate Marine Fish

📋 The Red Fairy Anthias , also known as the Tricolor Anthias or Kashiwae Anthias, displays genuine sexual dimorphism — males show a yellow rear body, orange head, and a broad red bar along the side, while females are a softer pinkish-orange with red tips on the caudal fin. Both sexes share a distinctive violet band running from below the eye to the base of the pectoral fin.

Native to the Red Sea, Maldives, and Great Barrier Reef, this species is genuinely collected from meaningfully deep water, and does best under lower lighting that reflects its natural habitat.

This is a genuinely notable species: unlike most anthias, it's one of the few that can genuinely be mixed with other anthias varieties, such as the Lyretail, Squarespot, or Purple Queen — though we'd recommend introducing carefully and monitoring closely, separating any fish that show aggression. It's fully reef safe and does best kept in small harems of one male with several females, though it can be territorial toward other zooplankton feeders. As with all anthias, it's a genuinely capable jumper, so a tight-fitting lid matters.
