🐠 Bicolor Anthias (Pseudanthias bicolor)

📋 The Bicolor Anthias, also known as the Fancy Bass or Yellowback Basslet, is one of the hardier and larger anthias species. Males show an intense violet body with yellow running along the back into the tail, while females have a softer lavender body with a yellow back and caudal fin.
It ranges across a remarkably wide stretch of the Indo-Pacific, from Mauritius and Réunion to Hawaii and the Line Islands, where it forms natural aggregations feeding on zooplankton in open water above the reef. Every Bicolor Anthias we ship is feeding well.
It's naturally social and does best as a single fish or a proper harem of one male with at least eight females, since smaller groups tend to lead to bullying, with the weakest fish pushed away from food. Keep only one male per tank. It's fully reef safe, generally ignoring sessile invertebrates and corals, and it's a known jumper, so a tight-fitting lid is essential. It reaches up to 13cm, so plan on at least 280L for one fish, and 475L or more for a proper harem.
