🐠 Red-Bar Anthias (Pseudanthias cooperi)

Marine Reef-Safe Shoaling Fish • Pink Body With Vertical Red Bar • Genuinely One of the Hardier Anthias • Intermediate Marine Fish

📋 The Red-Bar Anthias , also known as Cooper's Anthias, displays genuine sexual dimorphism — males show a light pink body with a bold vertical red bar through the mid-section and a red tail, while females are more orange overall with a silvery belly and red-tipped tail lobes. Both sexes share fine light blue edging along most fins.

Native to a genuinely wide range across the Indo-Pacific, from East Africa to Samoa, southern Japan, and Australia, this species is genuinely collected from meaningfully deep water — reef faces and drop-offs between 9 and 90 metres — where it forms small, loose schools along current-swept slopes.

This is genuinely one of the more robust, hardy anthias species once established, adjusting to aquarium life readily and generally accepting most prepared foods. It's fully reef safe and does best kept in harems of one male with several females, in a genuinely spacious tank with strong water flow and open swimming space. Like all anthias, it's a capable jumper, so a secure lid matters, and males are genuinely territorial toward other males.
