📋 Randall's Anthias has a striking pink-to-magenta body. Males develop a fine red-and-magenta striped pattern with maturity, while females stay a softer pink with a distinctive yellow nose.
It comes from the Western Pacific, from the Philippines to Niue and north to the Ryukyu Islands, where it's uncommon in the trade and collected from meaningfully deep water. Unlike most anthias, it's a bottom-dweller rather than an open-water schooler, spending its time close to live rock and favouring dimmer lighting alongside plenty of hiding places. Every Randall's Anthias we ship is feeding well.
It's fully reef safe and generally peaceful, though males are territorial toward other males, so keep it as a single fish, a mated pair, or one male with several females. Like other anthias, it's a protogynous hermaphrodite: if the dominant male is lost, the largest female will transform to take his place. It reaches up to 8cm, so plan on at least 265L for one fish, and 470L or more for a small group.
