📋 The Cinnamon Clownfish (Amphiprion melanopus), also known as the Red and Black Anemonefish or Fire Clownfish, has a deep reddish-orange body with black markings across the body and fins, and a single white vertical stripe behind the eyes.
Native to lagoons and coral reefs across the Indo-Pacific, including the Great Barrier Reef, Fiji, and the Solomon Islands, this species is one of the larger and genuinely more territorial clownfish available in the trade.
Cinnamon Clownfish become progressively bolder and more territorial with size and age, and while this is more accurately described as territorial than outright aggressive, it's still worth planning for — in smaller tanks, this should be the only clownfish species present, paired with similarly robust tank mates. Compared to Ocellaris or Percula Clownfish, this species is also genuinely harder to pair up, so buying an already-bonded mated pair is often the more reliable route if that's your goal. It will readily host in a Bubble Tip Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor) if one is available, though it doesn't require one to thrive.
With ample live rock and appropriate tank mates, it thrives as a Bold, Genuinely Colourful Reef Display Fish.
